What are the Symptoms of Depression?
Depression manifests in different intensities and durations. There are different types of depression, each with distinct characteristics. Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) involves intense emotional pain and functional impairment; Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia) features a chronic, milder sadness lasting at least two years; and Bipolar Depression, which is a part of bipolar disorder, is characterised by alternating periods of depression and mania or hypomania.
